ZAKEE - DOPE GIRL

dope.

Chaz Bundick is Toro Y Moi (the bull and me). His music has been skating up and down the chillwave scene with dance-worthy tempos and a lo-fi charm that complements his old school demeanor. Check out his latest album, Underneath the Pine for some fresh tunes, but also dig up some of Toro Y Moi’s earlier gems - here is “Leave Everywhere,” a 7” single released summer of 2010. The winsome vocals and playful riffs make for a delightful treat that really puts a skip to the step.

Eventides - Sun Glitters feat. Niva and Charlee

Sun Glitters sounds exactly as the name suggests: dreamy, sun-infused melodies layered with hearty beats and hauntingly buoyant vocals. A collaboration with Niva and Charlee resulted in Eventide - a collision of oceanesque reverberations and head-nodding tempos. The airy yet steady drone pairs seamlessly with the vocal repetition of ‘Every day I miss you’  creating a luscious longing that flows straight from the heart. This compilation of noise deserves to be listened through those nice headphones you got for your birthday, trust me. Watch and listen, then download the track here.

Out Getting Ribs - Zoo Kid

Zoo Kid is a sixteen year old London boy with the voice of a mysterious, brooding man sitting two tables away from you at the cafe - sipping on black coffee. The simple riffs of his music are delicious and haunting, reminiscent of a gray-sky summer at the beach. America gets Justin Bieber, England gets Zoo Kid. Happy Independence Day?

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.] Balthazar, Wire From the album Applause. 21 plays

Balthazar is a little group from Belgium that has been making sounds since 2004. Their debut album Applause wasn’t released until 2010 and features a diverse range of sullen ballads and chirpy beats. Here’s one of the latter, titled Wire.

It smells of watermelon and dancing in the kitchen - enjoy.
